Spotlight: Ann Byrne Coaching

We recently invited the Ann to tell us a little bit more about herself and her involvement in St. Andrew’s Community Centre.

Can you tell us a little about yourselves and the activity you take part in within St. Andrew’s?
My name is Ann and I was Widowed almost 5 years ago and when I looked for support with my Grief I found it hard to find anything so I decided to set something up for myself and others.  I approached St Andrews as I had heard really good things about the community support the centre offers.  I felt really welcomed by Mary and Sean when I came into see the room and also loved the rooms that were options to book.

Tell us more about the activity you run and who it’s for.
I run a monthly Grief Support Circle that incorporates what supported me in my Grief which is Reiki, Breathwork and connecting with other people who were grieving.  I am now a trained Reiki Master and Breathwork Teacher, both I trained in since I lost my husband Javi and I am also a Life Coach (I qualified in 2016).  I combine all of this together to offer a safe space for people who have lost someone significant in their life to share their story and receive understanding and support from the group as we have all been through similar experiences and understand.  I bring the group through a breathwork session, give them some Reiki healing from the chair and we have tea and biscuits.

How has it been going so far?
I started the group last year for just Widowed people but opened it up to all Grieving people in January and the group has expanded and mixing the group has been positive as we all need support.  We live in a world where we all go through Grief at some point but there is very little supports in place so you can end up feeling isolated and putting on a mask day to day to act ok.  In the space of the Circle you can put down the heavy load, heal a little and even have a laugh at the same time.

How can someone get in touch with you?
I am most active on Instagram @annbyrnecoaching but you can also email me on annbyrnecoaching@gmail.com or Whatsapp me on 085 775 7937.

Lastly, do you have an interesting or inspiring fact you’d like to share with us?
It took me losing my husband at 40 to learn what is important in life.  It is not chasing promotions and getting stressed about small things.  The important things are spending time with the people you love and doing things that bring you joy.  Take the trip, take the photographs, take a deep breath and get outside into nature.  You never know when it will be your last day on earth or the last time with a person you love, we need to treasure the small moments as they are the big moments in life.
