Spotlight: Zumba with Ciara

Ciara Tobin / Zumba with Ciara

We recently invited Ciara Tobin to tell us a little bit more about ‘Zumba with Ciara’ and her involvement in St. Andrew’s Community Centre.

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to approach St Andrew’s Community Centre for a room?
I've been a qualified Zumba instructor for over 10 years and have a real passion for making fitness fun, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. When I was looking for a venue to run my classes, St Andrew’s Community Centre stood out straight away. It’s such a warm and inclusive space, right at the heart of the community. I loved the idea of being part of a place that already brings people together for positive, healthy activities.

2. Tell us more about the activity you run and who it’s for.
I run Zumba classes every Monday at 6pm — it's a dance-based fitness class that blends Latin and international music with easy-to-follow moves. It’s high-energy, joyful, and a great way to get moving without feeling like you're “exercising.”
The class is open to all ages and fitness levels. Whether you're new to fitness or just looking for a more fun way to stay active, you're very welcome!

3. How has it been going so far?
It’s been going really well! We've built a lovely, supportive group, and the energy in the room is always so positive. People come for the fitness, but they stay for the connection and sense of community. It’s wonderful to see everyone leave class smiling and feeling good.

4. How can someone get in touch with you?
If you'd like to join or find out more, feel free to contact me:

I’m happy to answer any questions and help you get started!

5. Lastly, do you have an interesting or inspiring fact you’d like to share with us?
Did you know that dancing is one of the best ways to keep your brain healthy as you age? Studies show that regular dancing can lower the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Because it combines movement, coordination, music, and memory, it gives your brain a real workout — while still being loads of fun.
So every time we dance together at Zumba, we’re not just lifting our spirits — we’re also supporting our long-term brain health!
