Team Meet & Greet: Kat
We recently caught up with Kat (me!), Events & Communications Officer here at St. Andrew’s Community Centre.
Read on to learn more about my role, the work of the centre, and what inspires me most about supporting the local community. It’s non stop here and I’d have it no other way!
1. Tell us a bit about yourself – What’s your role at St Andrew’s, and which project are you involved with?
I’m Kat, the Events & Communications Officer at St. Andrew’s Community Centre, where I work as part of the operations team under the Rialto Development Association (RDA).
My role is varied, spanning administrative, creative, technical, and event management responsibilities. I oversee the Centre’s social media content and communications while also supporting and promoting our in-house projects that maintain their own online presence. I design promotional materials for our events programme, coordinate event logistics throughout the year, and produce our regular newsletter.
As Head of the Events Committee, I work closely with colleagues, community partners, and external organisations to develop and deliver an ever-growing programme of events. More recently, I have also become involved in funding applications and grant processes, working alongside our Centre Manager, Mary, to support the Centre’s long-term development and sustainability.
Before joining St. Andrew’s, I worked across the arts and cultural sector in a range of roles covering administration, facilities management, and festival production. Alongside my work at the Centre, I maintain an active artistic practice and run my own creative production company.
I’ve been with the Centre for just under a year, though it feels much longer—in the best possible way. The role has given me the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community space while continuing to grow both professionally and creatively.
2. Can you give us an overview of what your project does within the centre?
The Rialto Development Association (RDA) is a voluntary organisation responsible for the management and development of St. Andrew’s Community Centre, working to support residents and community groups across the wider Rialto area. As Events & Communications Officer, I support the RDA’s mission by promoting the Centre’s programmes and projects, coordinating events, and strengthening community engagement through communications and outreach. My role contributes to the RDA’s commitment to social inclusion, participation, and community development.
3. What have been some recent highlights or challenges in your role?
We recently completed the 2026 edition of the Rialto Community Arts Festival, which under the banner of St. Andrew’s I played a role in across the comms team and some of the programming for the festival. As I joined the centre just after last year’s edition it was a lovely full circle moment.
4. For anyone interested in learning more or getting involved with your project, what’s the best way to get in touch?

5. Lastly, do you have a fun fact, favourite memory, or something that’s inspired you lately that you’d like to share with our readers?
I collaborated with the Rialto Community Drug Team (RCDT), alongside Rialto Youth Project and the Canal Communities Drugs & Alcohol Task Force, to create graphics for the 2026 Hidden Harm in the Canal Communities research document. Since its publication, the findings have been brought to the attention of Minister Norma Foley, marking an important step in raising awareness of this significant issue and advocating for meaningful change.
It was a privilege to contribute my skills to such an important piece of work. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is being able to support initiatives like this—helping to amplify vital research, community voices, and projects that can have a lasting impact on people's lives. Yup Rialto!
